Review: Reborn by Seth Haddon

The weakest entry in the series in my opinion, but I most certainly still enjoyed it. Not the biggest fan of the soulmate trope, which is more of a reflection of my personal tastes than the story itself. I found the romance to be the last compelling part of the story, and thus was disappointed when it played such a big part in the climax. Again, not a reflection of the story being poorly written (on the contrary, I find that the way Seth Haddon intertwines the romance and non-romance plot lines in his fantasy/sci-fi romances to be incredibly well-done). If you liked Reforged (the first one) I recommend reading this one, and you already know I definitely recommend reading Reclaimed.

The order in which I read the trilogy was:

1. Reforged (read second)

2. Reborn (read third)

3. Reclaimed (read first)

After finishing with this one, I still stand by my statement that reading them out of order (or not reading one or more at all) doesn't diminish the reading experience. I do, however, think that reading them in order makes the cameos of characters from one book to another easier to follow. I did have a moment of "oh, this character is from the first book and this character shows up again in the next book" at the same time that I was only able to have by having read the middle book last. But enough of the important events in each book are explained that you could just read one of the trilogy and not have to read the others to understand. If you do only choose to read one, please do read Reclaimed.
